Does sunscreen expire? How to check the date and store it
Sunscreen is an over-the-counter drug, so check the expiration date on the container before using it. FDA advises that sunscreen without an expiration date should be discarded if it was not purchased within the past three years. If you do not know when it was purchased, replace it.
Changes in color, odor, or consistency can also be a reason to stop using a product. Storage matters: FDA recommends avoiding excessive heat and direct sun exposure, such as leaving sunscreen in a hot car or on a beach in direct sunlight. Keep the cap closed and follow storage instructions on the label.
The expiration date is part of the product information. When in doubt, replace sunscreen and keep the new product where it is easy to use as directed.
AREV Daily UV Fluid is in development. Final formula and SPF will be announced after finished-product testing. This article is general sunscreen education, not a claim about our product.
